Corset tops online shopping and fashion trends? Before you cover your eyes and cringe at the idea of literally wearing a bra as a top, hear us out. While, yes, we saw many designers such as Loewe and Olivier Theyskens display bras that looked more like contents of a negligee drawer and less like tops, we saw the opposite as well thanks to satin bra tops at Givenchy and kitschy co-ord sets at Maryam Nassir Zadeh. Style yours under a blazer or as a top all of its own. Either way, this is one trend we’re daring you to dabble in this season. Surprise, surprise—suits are still a thing, but we wouldn’t be talking about them in yet another trend guide if they weren’t still just as important. Luckily, there have been a handful of fresh updates to the world of suiting that will relight your fire for all things tailored and coordinated this season. With the addition of vests and waistcoats resulting in the return of three-piece suits, as well as Bermuda shorts for the more casual gal, the sartorial world has proven that when it comes to a well-rounded wardrobe, a good suit is a must. There were certainly many suiting separates styled on the S/S 20 runways, but today, we want to highlight the more literal takes for spring so that you can suit up and shop accordingly.
Let’s talk some spring 2020 trends in the fashion industry. Bra-Top Craze: Crop tops are no longer cutting it—the bra top has officially entered the party. From crochet iterations at Dior and Giambattista Valli to a more daring sheer number at Loewe, bikini dressing comes in all textures and styles. Just add a high-waisted skirt and you’ve got the perfect summer look. Make it ultra feminine by styling a ruffle-embellished bra top with a high-waisted midi skirt, as spotted on the Lanvin runway. Two trends in one? With the bra-top trend being invariably revealing, it is best to pair it more concealing items (unless, of course, you’re on island). Some choice items include long, pleated trousers, Chesterfield coats, and high-waisted anything.
Tailoring’s grip is as firm as ever for spring (if you’re looking to invest in an exemplary trouser suit, now’s the time) but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some new, well-cut proposals. Exhibit A: the shorts suit. Cut long and lean, falling just below the knee, at Givenchy they channelled what Clare Waight Keller called “raw, boyish energy”; at Max Mara, they had a crisp, faintly militaristic bent, thanks to Ian Griffiths’s stated desire to dress female assassins; and at Michael Kors, Salvatore Ferragamo and Rejina Pyo they looked positively peppy, cut high on the thigh. You might be sceptical now, but given how wedded you probably are to blazers, consider this trend a logical – and inevitable – progression.
When you have a slimmer physique, you will always have to opt for the tighter options because wearing baggy underwear can make you look more skinny or bony. Trunks suits this body type the most as they are longer than briefs yet not too tight to be worn. Wearing trunks won’t make you look as if you are wearing a diaper and at the same time your legs won’t look like matchsticks sticking out of a pile of fabric too. Discover more info at Corset Tops.
Those who like a bit of Vitamin C in their fashion diet will be pleased at the amount of bright orange set to hit the shelves over the next few months. Designers have a tendency to showcase fun, vibrant colours in the spring – which is one reason neon is likely to work well in the early part of this year. But there’s another prominent and somewhat garish colour in town for 2020, in the form of tangerine. “This specific shade of orange works for casualwear, such as shorts and sweaters, but was also a favourite for fancier pieces, such as dresses or ruffled tops,” wrote InStyle’s Samantha Sutton.
Tanga types of underwear provide moderate to minimal coverage, with back coverage that is more than a thong but narrower than a bikini. They’re a good option if you want something between a bikini and a thong. High-cut / french-cut types of underwear have the same high waist as the classic brief, but feature high-cut leg holes that rise just above the widest part of the thigh. They’re a sort of bikini-brief hybrid. You can find them in fabrics from mesh to microfiber. When it comes to women’s underwear styles, we can and should have all types of underwear in our wardrobe, ready for whatever outfit we decide to rock. The best part about shopping for underwear is that we get to choose the fabrics and styles we want without worrying about whether it’s right for our bodies. They’re right for every body!
It’s best if you can keep your period panties separately than your everyday wear. “There’s no such thing as a visible panty line when you’re wearing this seamless thong. It’s soft, comfortable and makes for the perfect everyday underwear.” – Lauren Fisher, market editor, HarpersBazaar.com. “I love these undies because they never ride up, and I’m not adjusting all day! Super comfortable.” – Kristen Saladino, executive fashion director, Hearst Women’s Lifestyle Group Find extra information on this website.
